About
Neomatter seeks to push the boundaries of and extend type design into the third dimension, offering typefaces originally crafted as three dimensional objects and dimensional interpretations of conventional 2D typefaces. Our goal is to serve the needs of creators working in spatial environments as well as those who like to implement 3D elements in their graphic design practice. Beyond selling commodities we want to elevate a debate around 3D typography.
Our typeface NM Origin has been presented at TDC's Type Drives Culture conference in 2022, which motivated us to push this project into a public affair. NM is mainly operated by Daniel Gremme and got recently joined by a fresh breeze of knowledge and curiosity in persona of Pauline Gebauer. Both coming from a graphic design background we join our expertise in type and 3D design. In addition to our retail catalogue we offer bespoke typefaces, tailored to your custom needs.
Licensing
We license our typefaces with a general model, meaning it doesn't distinguish between web and print. Once licensed you can use the typeface for almost any application. Only Broadcast, Game, NFT and Subcontractor licenses need to be purchased individually.
The license size and price is determined by the licensee size (number of employees) - starting from 1-2 it goes up to 500. The licensee is the commissioning entity, not the executing freelancer or design studio. The more employees the entity has, the more money they can extract from them and the more value they can extract from our typefaces as more people will interact with them in one way or another. Licensees with more than 500 employees have to reach out to us for an individually custom solution. Any question? Check the FAQ section below or drop us a line. Please read carefully as it is your responsibility to choose the right license.
Collaboration
Since we are floating in a quite undefined territory of typography, collaboration and exchangeis key.
We are happy to get in touch with you, whether you want to publish a typeface with us, write for the journal or just want to debate about spatial type.
